Services
Assessment & clinical opinion 30 minutes (approximately) or 45 minutes (approximately)
Assessment and clinical opinion forms an integral part of my approach to treating the whole body, not just the complaint in isolation. This service is fundamental to ensuring my patients' long term health and wellness.
Is the electrical stimulation of acupoints through acupuncture needles.
We are electrical as we are biochemical, no process in the body occurs without electricity. Heart and brain generate the strongest electrical signals in the body. Electricity is natural and is another tool which we can use to help promoting healing of the body.
Sometimes when manual acupuncture doesn't provide the desired effect, we can use EA because allows stronger stimulation and more continuous stimulation.
Indications: arthritis, frozen shoulders, acute and chronic pain, scare tissue. Due to release of natural chemicals such as endorphins, oxytocin, serotonin and melatonin, can help with stress, anxiety and improve sleep quality.
Sides effects are rare, mild and short lived- may include fatigue, light headed, bruising, localised bleeding, soreness, redness or mottling of the skin around the needles site.
Radial shockwave/non-focused (extracorporal shockwave- ESW). RSWT
ESW are pressure waves generated acoustically.
Radial ESW (using Gymna shock master 500) are created mechanical which travel forward into the body. These waves rapidly attenuate after their generation.
This therapy works good when other modalities have failed, or it's a chronic condition. Helps in tendons problems, tennis elbow or plantar fasciitis.
Patient will feel some level of discomfort during and after the treatment.
Possible sides effects are redness, swelling, bruising, numbness but they will disappear until your next session. There is a very small risk of tendon or ligament rupture, if the patient doesn't follow the guidance.
Deep oscillation (DO)
This therapy creates a pulsed electrostatic field, which is built up in the client's body region to be treated and the therapist hand.
Client feels a gentle, pleasant, deep relaxing vibration in the tissue. (no pain during the treatment or after).
Indications: arthritis, oedema reduction, muscle relaxation, acute and chronic pain relief, reduce inflammation , scar tissue and deep tissue healing.
Safety - there has not been any adverse affects reported from using DO since 1988 when it received it's first patent. FDA approved and used in NHS Lymphoedema services.
